Time waits for no one!

My dad has a new home hospital bed that Eli had to check out. He asked my mom about it and she told him that Pops was sick .Eli added, "because he's old like you, and yall are going to die soon". My mom jokingly asked if I could start visiting alone.

blast from the past

When I was 5 my sisters dressed me up like Shirley Temple and told me to do a song and dance for my dad's boss who had come over for dinner. Tonight while the repair man was at our house, Eli comes out dressed in a Mickey Mouse costume, waving and saying " Hello everybody". I now have a glimpse into my father's life.
My dad was so embarrassed that he kept calling me "that neighbor kid".  He told my sisters to take "that neighbor kid" home and find James.
I just laughed at Eli :-)

Heaven or Hell

Today Eli asked me for the pool and the tent when I get old and die and go to heaven. Then he paused and added, but if you go to hell I don't want anything. It is my sincere hope and prayer that Eli get the pool, the tent, and much more!

Spanking advice

Today Eli got a slash in school - not a good thing.  On the way home he advised me that he only needed one lick with the paddle. One lick would make him do better, but two, he said, would just make him angry. I agreed to just one lick.  Then Eli informed me that a gentle lick would make him mind, but a hard one would make him angry. I did not agree to this part of the deal.

I believe...

Because of the change in seasons, Eli has had a stuffy nose and at night it gets really bad. The other night he wanted to sleep with us, which I agreed to, but I knew the snoring was going to be a problem. 

Eli wanted to say his bedtime prayers - which we did - then I added my prayers. I prayed that Jesus would heal us from allergies and that both of us would be able to breathe through our noses. Amen!

As we lay there, Eli's breathing started sounding rough. I had already shot some nose spay up my nose and the thought came to do the same for Eli.  I turned and asked him if he wanted me to spray his nose. Without thinking, he turned and said..."Dad, you just asked Jesus to heal me. He's going to do it."  With that, he turned over and went to bed and I got a lesson in faith.

Today Eli went to work with me because it was fair day in the parish that we live in.  Ally Maree, a friend of Eli's from school, was also there.  Ally's mom took them to get a snack in another building and returned laughing. She proceeded to tell me this story.
When she asked them what they wanted, they both had the same choice for chips.  Ally's mom put the money in, made the selection and the chips fell.  Eli quickly reached in and grabbed the chips.  Ally, a little disturbed, asked Eli why he got to go first and told him that those were her chips.  Eli quickly responded with this, "It's ok Ally Maree, when we get to heaven, the last will be first."
The boy knows how to use this scripture very well. :-)

I somehow have the feeling there is a conspiracy going on in my home.  You see I am not a keeper, hoarder, pack-rat, but my husband is.  I have basically had to keep everything Eli has ever worn on his body and most of his toys and books.  Now, according to Eli, I have to keep everything he now possesses and all future purchases. Can you imagine, 13 more years of Christmases, birthdays, and good behavior bribes?  So now I have not one keeper, hoarder, pack-rat, but TWO! I suppose it is possible its just genetic. But considering the genetic source, I am more inclined to believe they are holding secret, keeper, hoarder, pack-rat meetings.
